The weather down here has been a little crazy lately, and a s a result my meeting schedule with Dr. Martins has been a little off. However, he asked me to join him on Wednesday to listen to presentations at UT Dallas. The presenters, Dr. Jaques Lux and Dr. Caroline de Gracia Lux, were friends he had met a few years back, as they previously had worked at UC San Diego on MR and PET contrast agents which incorporated gadolinium and optical techniques. Now, however, the two are both working at UT Southwestern on the TRUST program (Translational Research in Ultrasound Theranostics). Their research is focused on cancer detection and treatment.
Although the material in their presentations was unfamiliar to me, I was able to understand a good bit of what they described in their presentations regarding ultraviolet light. It was fun to meet other scientists outside of Dr. Sherry's lab!
We met again this Monday to discuss the results of the experiment we performed a few weeks ago, as well as the one he did the next day to follow, as well as how this product will be presented.
