NMR Experiments

This week during my mentor visit, Dr. Martins and I conducted an experiment to test out a new molecule that could be more effective in imaging Zinc in the body. We tested it using T1 method, which is... in a nuclear magnetic resonance analyzer. Dr. Martins showed me how all the materials in the experiment worked, from the pressurized pipettes to the vortex to the computer program that showed the experiment results. Although I wasn't there the next day, Dr. Martins completed the R1 portion of the experiment, which should be an inverse, to determine whether the molecule produces the results expected. I have not yet seen the results, but if it does, it can be used for a product and can also be tested on mice.
