ISM stands for Independent Study and Mentorship. It is a rigorous program offered by Frisco ISD. Students who hope to participate in ISM go through a selection and application process the spring prior, and are chosen be a part of the program. They select careers or topics of study, and narrow down this field before the next school year begins.

        The course includes focused research, written analysis, and product design. Furthermore, the ISM director coaches students on professional conduct and effective communication. The course prepares students for a productive mentorship experience, and the skills students learn in the process will translate to success in a career. Students conduct informational interviews with professionals in this chosen field and from this process, they carefully choose a mentor with whom to work for the second semester of the year.
